Inspiring Discovery
UBC Let's Talk Science strives to improve science, technology, engineering and mathematics literacy through the outreach efforts of members of the research community at the University of British Columbia. Our volunteers work with youth from elementary and secondary schools to ignite science excitement and share their knowledge with eager young minds.
Volunteer Resources
We support our volunteers in a number of ways:
- We have tons of ideas for your next classroom visit – check out our fool-proof Pre-Assembled Classroom Activities or our national online Database of Activities. You can also contact a UBC coordinator (supplies@ubclts.com) for help with activity ideas.
- We have supplies! Be sure to contact supplies@ubclts.com to visit our supplies office before your next visit. If we don't have the supplies you need, we can reimburse you for up to $20 per visit - just check with us to be sure it's not already here!
You can also check out in stock supplies list for lesson plan.
- We’re here to support you! We train all our volunteers before we send them off on a classroom visit or to a community event. You are always welcome to email your coordinators for ideas and advice on how to pull off a great science demonstration!
- We keep in touch! We regularly send emails regarding the latest UBC Let's Talk Science news and upcoming volunteering opportunities. If you're not already on our email list, please contact volunteer@ubclts.com. You can also Like our Facebook page to receive our latest announcements and participate in discussion topics.
