We recognize our “All-Star” volunteers at our Annual General Meeting (see our Gallery [1] for pictures of the event). This distinction is given to any volunteer who completes 8 (yes, that's eight, absolutely awesome!!) or more activities in a single school year. For 2006/07, they are:
Theresa Liao judged 2 science fairs, did two CEDAR summer camp activities, and succeeded Rachel in propelling this year's All Science Challenge. She was also the Volunteer of the Month for May.
Ryan Wicks did 2 classroom visits, judged 2 Science Fairs, was a great mentor with the Mentorship program, and defied gravity by levitating metals at the All Science Challenge Magic Show! He is an All Star Volunteer for participating in 8+ activities this year.
Erin Kennah was a phenomenal MC for the All Science Challenge Quiz Show, did 7 classroom visits with her volunteer partner Michael Copley, judged 2 Science Fairs, and went on 1 rural visit. She is an All Star Volunteer (participated in 8+ activities) and was a Volunteer of the month for April.
Marie-France Lise led our volunteers with 8 classroom visits this year! She covered topics such as the three phases of matter, tested their properties, and talked about the water cycle and the importance of air on Earth. She is an All Star Volunteer (participated in 8+ activities) and was a Volunteer of the month for May.
Justin LeBlanc did a Science Week activity at Prince of Wales Secondary, two CEDAR summer camp activities, 3 classroom visits, judged 1 science fair, and is also the leader of our Sustainability group.
Derek Choy went on the Nelson rural trip, and did 1 visit with his partner Faezeh Azhari, and co-led UBC LTS-PP this year in Science Fairs judged with 4!
Tessa Chaworth-Musters went on our rural trip to Penticton/Vernon/Kelowna, did a Prince of Wales Reading Week activity, helped out at the All Science Challenge, and tied Derek in most Science Fairs judged with 4!
Jesse Popov judged 1 science fair and did 1 classroom visit. His help in the Castlegar/Neslon rural trip made him one of the Volunteers of the Month in April.
Clare Scott did 1 classroom visit, judged the Greater Vancouver Regional Science Fair, was on two rural trips (Nelson and Squamish/Whislter/Pamberton), did a Prince of Wales Reading Week, and also helped out with the All Science Challenge.
Jimmy Wang judged 2 Science Fairs, was involved in the Reading Week activities, and was also a mentor with the Mentorship program.
Katriina Ilves did 1 classrooom visit and participated in the Mentorship and SMaRT programs.
Sarah Allan did 2 classroom visits, judged 2 Science Fairs, went on one Rural Visit, and was also part of the SMaRT program.
Po Yan Cheng judged 1 Science Fair, helped out with the CEDAR summer camp, and also mentored science fair students with the Mentorship program.
Crispin Jordan helped out at Musqueam summer camp, gave his time to the Mentorship program, and also did 1 classroom visit.
